Eco Friendly Products for Outdoors Lovers

Hikers tend to be pretty eco friendly, but there are unfortunately some aspects of camping, backpacking and hiking that haven’t always been so great for the environment. There is some good eco news for the outdoors lovers out there, though, since more and more manufacturers are going green. One of the most exciting eco friendly products on the market for hikers and other outdoors enthusiasts is the SteriPEN.

With eco friendly products like the SteriPEN, hikers can escape to the wild for days on end without worries about carrying water bottles or lugging around extra gear to boil water from rivers and streams. This eco-friendly gadget does what a camping stove and kerosene would have done in the past, but without the inconvenience or carbon footprint. The microorganism called Cryptosporidium that can make people extremely sick and lead to death for those with a weak immune system, is destroyed by this solar powered device without any boiling.

There are many other “green” products that outdoor gear manufacturers are coming out with these days, and many more are sure to come. Products like this help eliminate the need to create extra trash and use the earth’s resources more than we have to. The SteriPEN is particularly handy because it’s pocket-sized, but since it’s solar-powered, it might not work so efficiently when it’s stormy outside, although most hikers wouldn’t want to be out at that time anyway. But if you do happen to be caught outside in the storm, a new eco friendly umbrella is available. Green Home has introduced the first umbrella that is is made from recycled plastic fabric, which reduces air pollution and is made without poisonous toxins, and it has shredded wood for the handle.

Green consumers and outdoors enthusiasts can always keep up on the latest eco news and find new products coming out practically every week that help save the environment.
